A discounted petrol pump visit only works if three things line up before you leave home: a SIM registered in your own name, vehicle details that match the official record, and a valid fuel token. Miss any one of them and the pump cannot give you the relief, no matter how long you queue. This guide walks through the PM Fuel Relief Scheme’s 9771 check step by step, so you can verify everything in advance and avoid a wasted trip.
The scheme is a federal petrol relief programme announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on 13 September 2026. It gives Rs 100 off per litre of petrol to eligible users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and other two- and three-wheelers, and to owners of cars up to 800cc. Registration is by SMS to 9771, and a separate TOK message generates the token you show at the pump. It is not a general petrol price cut: only registered vehicles with a valid token get the discount, and only within a monthly quota.
One honest warning up front: the scheme was approved as a three-month programme, and reports in October 2026 note that no extension had been confirmed at the time of writing. That means you should treat the current status as something to confirm on the official information site, pmfuelrelief.pk, or through the 9771 service before you travel — not as a permanent entitlement.

The monthly figures are simple arithmetic, not a promise of a fixed cash payment: Rs 100 multiplied by your vehicle’s monthly litre quota. You do not receive Rs 2,000 or Rs 3,000 in cash. You save up to that amount across the month, litre by litre, as you buy fuel with valid tokens.
PM Fuel Relief 9771 Check Kya Hai Aur Ye Kaise Kaam Karta Hai?
The scheme runs on a Fuel Pass System managed through the Ministry of IT and Telecom. There is no app to install and no office visit in the basic process. Everything happens in two SMS steps. First, you register once by sending your CNIC, vehicle number, province code and vehicle registration date to 9771. The system checks those details against the vehicle record. Second, whenever you need fuel, you send TOK to 9771 and receive a token showing the token number, vehicle number, fuel quantity and the period in which it can be used. You show that token at a participating petrol station and buy petrol at the discounted rate.
The rollout started in Islamabad on the night of 14–15 September 2026 and extended to the rest of Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, from the night of 16–17 September 2026. By late September, government reporting cited roughly 7.6 million registrations and 7.71 million tokens redeemed. Those figures show the system was heavily used in its first weeks, which is also why getting your details exactly right matters: a small mismatch can leave you stuck while others pass through.
The relief applies to petrol only, at participating stations. Diesel-only outlets and permanently closed stations are not part of the system. The discount is Rs 100 off the official petrol price on the day you fill up, so the amount you actually pay still moves when official prices change — only the Rs 100 relief stays fixed.
Who Is Eligible for the PM Fuel Relief Scheme?
Eligibility depends mainly on the vehicle, not on income or on any survey list. The broad rules reported from the government’s guidance are:
- Motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and other two- and three-wheelers are covered. Guidance cited by the Ministry of IT and Telecom puts the cut-off at vehicles registered on or after 1 January 2005.
- Cars up to 800cc are covered, with guidance putting the cut-off at cars registered on or after 1 January 2006. Larger cars are not covered by this scheme.
- Non-commercial use only. The relief is for personal, non-commercial users, limited to one vehicle per user.
- For motorcycles and three-wheelers, the user may register even if the vehicle is not in their own name, according to ministerial statements — but the SIM must match the applicant’s CNIC. For cars, the registered owner is the person who should register.
- Your SIM must be registered in your own name. This is the single most common failure point, and it is checked as part of registration.
If your vehicle is commercial, above 800cc in the car category, or registered before the cut-off dates above, this scheme does not cover it. No agent can change those rules for a fee.

How to Do the PM Fuel Relief 9771 Check Before You Register
Do these four checks before you send any SMS. They take five minutes and save most failed registrations:
- Check your SIM ownership. The mobile number you will use must be registered against your own CNIC. If you are using a family member’s SIM, registration will fail or be questioned. Use your own number.
- Check your CNIC number. Type your 13-digit CNIC without dashes. Read it twice. A single wrong digit sends the check against the wrong record.
- Check your vehicle number exactly as registered. Enter the plate number without spaces or dashes, exactly as it appears on the registration record. Do not guess a newer or shorter version of the plate.
- Check your vehicle registration date. This is the date the vehicle itself was registered, found on its registration documents — not the date you bought it, not your CNIC issue date, and not today’s date. Enter it in DDMMYYYY format, with no spaces or dashes.
Also confirm the province code for the province or region where the vehicle is registered: Punjab P, Sindh S, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa K, Balochistan B, Islamabad I, Azad Jammu and Kashmir A, Gilgit-Baltistan G. Using the province where you live, instead of where the vehicle is registered, is another common error.
How to Register for PM Fuel Relief Through 9771
Once your four checks are done, registration is one SMS:
- Open a new message on the SIM registered in your own name.
- Type: REG, then a space, then your CNIC without dashes, then a space, then your vehicle number without spaces or dashes, then a space, then your province code letter, then a space, then your vehicle registration date in DDMMYYYY format.
- Send it to 9771.
- Wait for the system’s reply. A successful registration is confirmed through the SMS response. Do not send the same registration repeatedly while waiting — duplicate messages do not speed up verification.
- If the reply reports an error, re-check the four items above before resending. The most common errors are a wrong registration date, a plate typed with spaces or dashes, a wrong province code, or a SIM that is not in your name.
Example format only — replace every item with your own real details: REG 3520212345678 ABC1234 P 15032020. Never post your real CNIC, plate number or token publicly when asking for help online. Anyone who asks you to post those details in a comment or group is not helping you.

How to Get Your Fuel Token and Use It at the Pump
Registration alone does not give you discounted fuel. You need a fresh token for each fill-up, within your monthly quota:
- Before going to the pump, send TOK to 9771 from your registered number.
- Read the token reply carefully. It states the token number, the vehicle number, the fuel quantity and the validity period. That reply is your authority at the pump — the quantity and validity shown in it are what count.
- Go to a participating petrol station within the token’s validity period, with the vehicle shown on the token. Discounted petrol is given only for the vehicle named on the token. It cannot be filled into a different vehicle.
- Show the token and buy petrol at the discounted rate. Keep the token message on your phone until the transaction is complete.
A note on changing token rules: early guidance described motorcycle tokens of 5 litres valid for 7 days and car tokens of 10 litres valid for 10 days, while later reporting said the 5-litre restriction for two- and three-wheelers was removed after public feedback. Because the per-token quantity has changed during the scheme, do not rely on a single old figure you saw online. The quantity and validity in your own TOK reply are the current rules for your token. If a pump disputes your token, do not argue from a screenshot of someone else’s token — your reply message is the document that matters.
If your token has expired, get a new one before travelling to the pump. An expired token is not honoured, and the pump cannot revive it.
What If Your 9771 Registration Fails?
Work through this list in order, and change only one thing at a time so you know what fixed it:
- Wrong registration date. Re-read the date from the vehicle’s registration document, not from memory. This is the most reported error in the scheme.
- Plate format. Remove all spaces and dashes from the plate number. Check for a zero that you typed as the letter O, or vice versa.
- Province code. Use the code of the vehicle’s registration province or region, from the list above, not your current city if they differ.
- SIM ownership. If the SIM is in someone else’s name, registration will not pass. Use a SIM registered in your own name.
- Vehicle eligibility. Check the vehicle type, engine size and registration cut-off dates. A car above 800cc or a vehicle outside the covered categories cannot be registered, however many times you retry.
- Still stuck? Contact the 9771 helpline for registration-related assistance rather than guessing further details or paying anyone. Do not share your OTP, bank PIN or wallet PIN with anyone who contacts you about this scheme.

Is the PM Fuel Relief Scheme Still Running?
This is the question every guide should answer honestly, and the honest answer is: confirm it before you rely on it. The scheme was approved by the Economic Coordination Committee on 10 September 2026 as a three-month programme, with a reported cost of Rs 75 billion through a technical supplementary grant and a reported Rs 25 billion per month. A three-month term from mid-September points toward mid-December, but an extension is a government decision, not something any website can promise in advance. Reporting in October 2026 noted no confirmed word on an extension, alongside separate reporting that the IMF had raised questions about the scheme’s future.
What that means in practice: the 9771 service and pmfuelrelief.pk are your live sources. If TOK still returns a valid token, the scheme is operating for you. If it does not, or if official guidance announces a closure, do not keep travelling to pumps on the basis of an old article — including this one. Check the current status first, every time, until the scheme’s end is formally announced either way.
Stay Safe: Fraud Warnings for Fuel Relief Applicants
Fuel relief has attracted the same scams as every popular government scheme:
- Registration is free. The 9771 registration SMS is described in government guidance as free. Anyone charging a registration fee is running a scam.
- Only 9771 matters. Send registration and token messages only to 9771. Messages from any other number claiming to approve your fuel relief are fake.
- Only pmfuelrelief.pk is the scheme’s information site. Lookalike sites that copy the name and ask for fees, PINs or OTPs are not the government.
- Never share your OTP, bank PIN or wallet PIN with anyone, including someone who claims to be from the scheme, the pump or the telecom company.
- Never post your CNIC, plate number or token publicly in comments, groups or videos when asking for help. That information can be misused, and no genuine helper needs it in public.

Final Words
The PM Fuel Relief Scheme is genuinely useful for the riders and small-car owners it covers, but only if you treat it as a system with rules rather than a general discount. Check your SIM, your CNIC, your plate and your registration date before you register. Register once, get a fresh token before every fill-up, and use exactly the quantity and validity your TOK reply states. And because the scheme was approved for a limited term, check that it is still running before you plan a trip around it. A five-minute check at home beats a wasted journey to the pump.
